What Issues and Illnesses Can be Treated Via Telehealth?

What Issues and Illnesses Can be Treated Via Telehealth?

When you value your health but have a busy life, it can be challenging to get to the doctor’s office for medical care. Fortunately, you can save time while reducing your exposure to contagious illnesses by attending telemedicine appointments.

Using your video chat and internet-compatible device, you can attend virtual telehealth appointments and receive the same personalized, comprehensive, and confidential care available in person for many types of services.

Learn from Jean Welsh, MD, a telemedicine provider based at Primary & Alternative Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, about which illnesses and issues are treatable via telehealth.

When can I schedule a telehealth appointment?

Once you’ve had at least one in-person appointment at Primary & Alternative Medical Center, you’re eligible to be part of our telehealth program. To make an appointment, all you need to do is call us.

We ensure your health concerns are suitable for a telemedicine consultation and that you have the right technical equipment at home. With our virtual care, you can continue on with your day with minimal interruption and recover comfortably at home.

Situations where we often recommend a telehealth visit include:

Minor illnesses

Our team can diagnose and treat many viral and bacterial conditions via telemedicine. You can have your visit at home without the discomfort of having to travel to the office when you don’t feel well. You also won’t expose others to contagious illnesses.

Illnesses and symptoms we regularly treat with telemedicine include:

Our clinicians can prescribe antibiotics and other medications via telehealth, as well as order follow-up tests when needed.

Minor injuries

You often don’t need to hobble into the office for health care when you’ve twisted your ankle or pulled a muscle. We can assess sprains and strains, muscle pain, minor cuts, and minor burns with a telehealth visit.

Skin problems

Video technology makes it easy to diagnose and develop a care plan for a wide range of skin care. A telehealth appointment can be appropriate to assess acute problems like bug bites, rashes, sunburns, and inflammation.

We can also look at and treat ongoing skin issues like acne and eczema.

Follow-up appointments

If you’ve been diagnosed with a chronic condition, we can often monitor it using telemedicine. Talk to our team about whether telehealth is right for you if we’re helping you manage a condition like allergies, asthma, or arthritis.

If you recently had surgery or a medical procedure, we can usually do your follow-up visit using telehealth, too.

Health counseling

Programs like weight loss and drug or alcohol coaching are ideal for a telemedicine format. Other health coaching appointments or advice about medication or other health needs can also be done with telehealth.

If you need medical care and have trouble getting into the office, our team is here to meet as many of your needs as possible over telemedicine. Contact us to find out if telehealth is right for you and make an appointment.
